Job Purpose

As a Retail Cashier, you will be the friendly face and last point of contact for our customers, ensuring every shopping experience ends on a high note! Your role is to operate the cash register, handle payments, answer customer queries, and assist in making the store a fun, clean, and organized space for shoppers of all ages.

Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties

Here’s what you’ll be doing to keep the Toys R Us magic alive :

Customer Service & Sales

• Provide AWESOME service that gives every customer a WOW experience
• Understand and attend to the unique needs of each customer
• Deliver prompt, efficient, and friendly service at all times
• Upsell, promote add-on sales, and recommend services at the Point of Sale (POS)

Cashiering & Transactions

• Operate cash registers quickly and accurately
• Process payments (cash, card, vouchers, etc.) according to company SOPs
• Verify transactions and issue receipts professionally
• Handle returns and communicate with management for any discrepancies

Store Maintenance & Merchandising

• Follow housekeeping and merchandising standards
• Ensure shelves and displays near the POS are well-stocked and neat
• Assist with advertised promotions and visual merchandising at checkout

Inventory & Loss Control

• Participate in stock takes and inventory counts
• Report any stock irregularities immediately
• Help minimize stock loss and shrinkage
• Ensure goods are correctly priced and scanned

Entry Requirements & Skills

You don’t need years of experience — just the right attitude, energy, and a desire to help create unforgettable retail moments.

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric / Grade 12 Certificate
• At least 6 months of retail experience
• Must have reliable transport (this is a shift-based role)

Key Skills Needed:

• Fantastic customer service and communication
• Basic numeracy and cash handling skills
• Strong time management
• Quick thinking and problem-solving
• Basic computer literacy

Locations & Work Schedule

We’re hiring in multiple stores across South Africa. You must be available to work retail shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and occasional late hours — but don’t worry, we balance hard work with a lot of fun!
