Job Advert Summary

Blockman JOB at several Pick n Pay shops around the country. We are searching for a skilled block man with at least 1-year trip in butchery, ideally in a retail environment. Must be expert in preparation, reducing quite some meat carcasses, de-boning all cuts of meat, manufacturing mince, and producing sausage and boerewors, as properly as understanding meat aging techniques.

Minimum Requirements

1+ yr trip as a Blockman. Be bodily capable to raise carcasses and containers of meat. Able to cut/manufacture/produce a range of meat merchandise e.g. loin chops, roast, etc., (This talent will be tested). Able to work in a bloodless environment. Relevant ride in a comparable role. Retail trip – advantageous

Duties & Responsibilities

Operate all Butchery Equipment which includes the Bandsaw. Report any faulty equipment/utensils to the Butchery Manager. Control, Merchandise and Promote inventory by laid down approaches and standards. Prepare and spoil a range of meat carcasses by laid down specifications. De-boning all cuts of meat and manufacturing Mince / Produce Sausage and Boerewors.

Prevent wastage/shrinkage/damages. Check temperatures and monitor/maintain the cold chain. Provide the required product or offerings and cope with clients in a courteous and businesslike manner. Maintain an excessive degree of cleanliness and hygiene of butchery-related gear and utensils. Assist with the receiving of meat from suppliers. Assist with education personnel on several new products/lines.

Must be client minded and a group player. Good verbal exchange competencies – pay attention cautiously and reply appropriately. Have an ardor for the product and a feeling of urgency. Ability to whole duties accurately. Develop Self – seem for possibilities to develop and increase yourself. Able to cut/manufacture/produce some meat merchandise e.g. loin chops, roast, etc., (This ability will be tested). Able to work in a bloodless environment. Be bodily in a position to raise carcasses and containers of meat.
