Key Responsibilities for the Dis-Chem Casual Cashier Role

Customer Service Excellence

Provide high-quality customer service at checkout points
Establish friendly and professional interactions with shoppers
Respond to compliments and complaints and escalate to supervisors when needed
Stay informed about ongoing promotions and product discounts

Cash Handling and Transactions

Accurately process all payment types: cash, card, coupons, vouchers, and loyalty points
Ensure safe and correct operation of the Dis-Chem Point of Sale (POS) system
Maintain secure cash drawer practices and adhere to drop-safe protocols
Perform merchandise exchanges and return transactions when authorized

Store Operations & Compliance

Ensure all outgoing merchandise, prescriptions, or stock are properly scanned and paid for
Keep your login credentials confidential and secure
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and internal security guidelines
Report suspicious customer behavior immediately
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe till point

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for the Dis-Chem Casual Cashier job in Claremont, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Grade 12 / Matric certificate
Minimum of 6 months’ cashier or till operation experience
Computer literate (especially MS Office)
Excellent command of English
