Launch Your Career as an Artisan with eThekwini Municipality

Are you an unemployed youth living within the eThekwini Municipal area? This is your chance to gain hands-on experience and a recognized trade qualification through the Artisan Development Programme (ADP) 2025.

 

The programme provides structured training aligned with QCTO, SETA, and the National Artisan Moderating Body standards to help you become a qualified Electrician or Millwright.

Available Apprenticeship Trades

  • Electrical
  • Millwright

Minimum Requirements (Both Trades)

  • South African citizen with a valid ID and residing within the eThekwini Municipality (proof required)
  • Unemployed, aged between 18–35 years, and not previously enrolled in a similar apprenticeship or programme, and Passionate and committed to completing the selected trade.

Educational Qualifications

Electrical Trade

  • N6 Certificate (with Electrical trade theory), or
  • Technical Matric/Grade 12 with Maths, Physical Science/Engineering Science & Electrical theory, or National Technical Diploma (S or N stream)

Millwright Trade

  • N6 Certificate in Mechanical Fitter or N2 in Millwright, or
  • Technical Matric/Grade 12 with Maths, Physical Science & Millwright theory, or National Technical Diploma (S or N stream)

Assessments & Training Process

  • Verbal, written, and medical assessments, a Full apprenticeship programme, and a Final Trade Test to qualify as an artisan

How to Apply (Manual Applications Only)

Step 1:

Collect and complete the official eThekwini Municipality application form.

Step 2:

Clearly indicate your preferred trade (e.g., “ADP – Electrical” or “ADP – Millwright”)

Step 3:

Submit your completed application form with:

  • A certified copy of your ID and Educational certificates
  • Proof of residence
